Stop playing, start building
Noa Mot wanted to become a professional Fortnite player. In 2025 he realised he was no longer improving as fast as he hoped. Rather than give up, he decided to build the organization he would have wanted to join, and to recruit players stronger than himself to carry it.
He was 15 at the time, about to start his fourth year of secondary school.
Noa and Matrix
Natrix comes from his first name and from Matrix, a nod to coding. He learned to program at 11, first with his father, then through online computing courses.
He turned it into a business, Checkmate, building websites for companies. That business funds the club today.
Convincing a top player
He managed to sign shadow1x, one of the best American Fortnite players. The roster went international and collected several thousand dollars in competition winnings across 2026.
First Belgian organization at EWC
Natrix became the first Belgian organization to compete at the Esports World Cup. Shadow finished 32nd, Axadasz 37th.
The world championship at home
Shadow is qualified for the FNCS Global Championship on 26 and 27 September at the Lotto Arena. The Fortnite world championship is played in Belgium, and Natrix will be there.
